Both are charting solutions to display data. Widgets are embeddable iframe objects that TradingView hosts. They contain data from TradingView and can be included in your site or app by copypasting a simple configurable script. Libraries, on the other hand, are more customizable, feature-rich components that you host on your servers, and connect your data to them through the API.
Our Advanced Chart library is a free, standalone solution that you can host on your own servers, even plug your own data into, plus integrate with your website and app. The Trading Platform library contains everything from Advanced Charts, and also has direct trading functionality.
At this time, we don't provide the Advanced Charts and the Trading Platform libraries for personal use, hobbies, studies, or testing. These licenses are only available to companies for use in public web projects and/or applications. However, you can use the Lightweight Charts™ for personal projects — it's open-source under the Apache 2.0 license.
The library should be connected to the broker's back-end, including both the data stream and order management (routing) system. This setup lets users trade right from the chart, and all you have to do to make this work is to implement your Broker API and plug it into the chart widget. Datafeed must be enabled to support real-time pricing data.
Advanced Charts should be integrated by technical specialists. This library requires advanced skills in JavaScript and an understanding of WEB protocols.
Lightweight Charts™ are open-source under the Apache 2.0 license. For other charting solutions, our source code is not provided.
